It's 2 am - and there I was - watching the last episode (possibly) of "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance" on Star World. As the chain of events unfolded during the wedding of Steve and Randi - a thought kept cropping at the back of my mind - is this really a reality show - or it's all cooked up - spicy and tasty !
For those who never saw a episode of the drama - here's a story in brief :
( For details - please Google'>http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=my+big+fat+obnoxious+fiance">Google "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance" )
- Randi and Steve meet at a wedding where a reality TV director offers to pay Randi a total sum of $500k - if she cooks up a game where she and Steve will eventually get married to each other.
- Steve is also, supposedly, offered a similar amount.
- Steve is portrayed as a man with obnoxious habits, someone Randi is least likely to marry.
- The show producer films the events that happen since Steve and Randi are introduced to each other, and how each of them introduce the other to his/her family.
- Dramatic events follow, where Randi's family doesnt belive that their "Barbie doll" girl chose Steve.
- All this leads up to the finale, a wedding ceremony.
- But the "I do" doesnt come from Steve - and he cuts open the box of secrets.
- Randi's family is enraged, and hurt.
- But the fun begins when Steve tells Randi that he's not just another guy whom she met the other day. He too is a part of the whole show - and is a professional actor. His so called family is fake.
Randi is shell shocked. Her family - even more betrayed. People start walking out of the garden (where the wedding ceremony was arranged).
When all this is happening , I sit back and think
a) Is all this a real show ?
b) How can Randi's parents not get a clue of things that are happening to her life -- they say they all are very close to each other .
c) Are Randi's parents , brothers and sisters a part of acting group - nothing being real.
I seriously belive so !
