in continuation of my previous blog post, i believe we finally have a solution ( credit goes to Dave ). Under Settings ->Comments -> Turn on the "Show Word Verification" flag.
I personally am not so fond of filling-words-before-you-can-leave-a-comment philosophy, so I will spare my few readers the pain. but if i am attacked by spam in near future, i will have no option but to turn on the spam-checker.

Thanks for the tip. My blog has already been violated by the evil spammers... but will hold the trigger as well for now...
