i attended a wharton reception recently, my first in anything of that sort. it was pretty ok, the 2 alums who turned up were pretty engaging, and the snacks were delicious ;) but i had a big time reality check there. i happened to talk to a few of the candidates (there were around 25 of us), and my, were they smart. managers, all(atleast as it seemed to me) - big name companies, almost everyone, bankers, marketers, wow - awesome crowd. the crowd asked some insightful questions and some gmat related not so insightful questions(we all know what the adcom says, so why ask them again and again whether the 690 will make the cut, i am not negative on the person who asked this question, but come on, if it makes one so restless, why wait for the adcom to tell you that you need to take it again, which they never will - just go ahead and do it, make yourself happy). all in all it was a good experience, big time reality check, and really really time to put in some good effort and do justice to all the previous effort.
to top it all - read this from
