i am alive

First I was afraid
And I continue to be petrified
Kept thinking how I could live
with essays by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking what I am writing wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
but you are still around
I just walked in to find you here
with that menacing look upon your face
I should have formatted my stupid laptop
I should have dropped you from "my recent documents"
If I had known for just one second
you'd always be there to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
I have had enough of you
weren't you the one who tried to teach me how to write
you think I'd write
you think I'd lay down and write
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to break free
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive

In other news - I recently gave my Ross interview - via phone. I didnt do quite as well as I should have , but there's nothing to do now. Here goes the questions :
  • Why MBA ?[ ok answer ]
  • Why Now ? [ ok answer ]
  • Why Ross ? [ ok answer ]
  • Interests outside work ? [ok answer]
  • Describe a situation where you translated theory into action. [ bad answer here ]
  • Describe a situation where you met with resistance from your team member, and what did you do about it [ answer could have been better ]
  • What will you bring to the Ross community , and what will you take back from the community (besides the good education) ? [ moderately ok answer ]
  • some questions to clarify career goals, which means, my long term goals need to be more specific than they are now [ clarification was hopefully ok ]
  • then i asked 2 questions, and let the interview speak and speak till the time got over.
Preparation : I just wrote answers to a few questions I had compiled out of Accepted.com [ great work there by Linda ], but I did not [ very foolishly ] go through any mock interviews - I should have, considering that I havent given an interview in more than 3 years now.

Advice : Take it or trash it. If you are giving these standard type of interviews, you can absolutely crack it by thorough preparation. So prepare, revise, and practise.

My present status : Essays are just about to kill me. It is so God damn hard to write essays. It is nightmarish to write good essays. And it is freaking impossible to write top notch worthy-of-admission essays. I am trying to stay afloat, but with the high tide waves approaching (=deadlines), it looks like I will probably drown. And yes, I dont think I will do all 5 schools I initially planned to, atleast one of them will have to be axed out.

Have a great weekend you guys !

Hang in there! I was wondering what black hole sucked you in. I felt exactly the same way after my two interviews. There is alwyas a better way to answer a question once yuo step away and think about it. You cannot be too hard on yourself about that. Hopefully my Columbia interview will be better then the first two :)

Happy Holidays!

You know, I was planning to post something very similar with John Lennon's Imagine :)

"Imagine, there's no bschool
It's easy if you try ..."

Considering there is always room to improve, I should say your interview definitely went better than you think it did. Good luck!

Dont' worry about it forrest. I'm sure you did alright, and the interview is just another part of the application anyway. it's not a deal breaker :)
