pp1, f1 and il divo

a diverse mix out there in the blog title.

i gave my pp1 yesterday, and got a upper 600 score. not quite where i want to be, but i learnt the lesson. mistakes in the early questions did me in. i realised that finishing the quant section 20 minutes before time and making 3 mistakes didnt quite fit in the best plan. nor did making around 5+ mistakes in the verbal section and finishing that section 10 minutes ahead of time help. i could have easily avoided 2 out of 3 mistakes in the quant section, 1 question was a little tricky, so i will not kick my butt for it. i got the 2nd, 3rd and one more of the first-10 questions wrong in verbal. not good. not good at all. what i can say is that, i didnt make a mistake because i was rushing, SC mistakes(questions 2,3) were more because i didnt know a idiom, or didnt apply a rule. lack of knowledge primarily out there. i have still not broken up my mistakes in different verbal sub sections, but i know the count is high for sc and cr. least for rc - which was least expected. i did find the rcs easy to read and understand, and since i was doing pretty good on time(at the price of some costly mistakes early on in the game), i didnt need to rush through the rcs, which proved vital. all in all, though not a satisfying performance, definitely an attempt from which i can take quite something back home. lessons learnt, time to move on.

on life outside gmat, i managed to miss the Nurburgring race, due to unavailibility of my friend at who's place i generally go to watch all f1 races. dont ask me why i dont have star sports at my place, some unavoidable reasons, sadly. fernando alonso snatched what could have been another well deserved mclaren-raikonnen win. alonso snatched the victory he deserved, thus strengthening his grasp of the world championship, at the same time earning some valuable points to push team renault to a contructors champion title. ferrari earned only their second podium, with barrichelo edging past frontrunners to a third spot in the race. for more, interested folks may visit - http://www.f1.com/ or www.f1live.com

the latest on my playlist is the Il Divo album. the songs are by four guys - all with an enviable record in music, and all of them coming from different countries, 3 europeans and one american. the music is fabulous, capturing. i have already heard the songs many times over, and even as i write this note, i enjoy the songs online from http://www.smashitsusa.com/ For anyone who is not bothered about understanding the songs(many songs are in spanish - only a few in english) and rather in enjoying some heart-wrenching music, a must purchase album.

amen.
